ABOUT BURKINA FASO :
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in the Sahel region of West Africa. The capital, Ouagadougou, is in the centre of the country and is the largest city in Burkina Faso. The official language is French however, most of the population uses their native languages. Its economy is largely based on agriculture, which employs 80% of the workforce, although recently gold has been a key resource for export.

Economic Overview: About 80% of the population are engaged in agricultural production; cotton and gold are key exports and are growing year on year (gold accounts for about 75% of total export revenues). The government recently implemented a national economic plan to reduce poverty and raise human capital.
Access & Logistics: Burkina Faso is bordered by Benin, Togo, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire to the country’s south, Mali to the north-west and Niger to the north-east. Its landlocked position requires Burkina Faso to rely on Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana to access international trade as the security of the region bordering Mali is more complex. Bilateral agreements have been concluded between Burkina Faso and bordering countries equipped with port capacities. Abidjan-Ouagadougou line is the economic heart of the country. Much of what is imported or exported is through this train, The rail line links the port of Abidjan to Ouagadougou and is a key conduit for bulk freight from and into the landlocked hinterland of Burkina Faso. The Ouagadougou International Airport (OUA) is the main air cargo hub offers regular flights to Paris, Algiers and capitals of the sub region (Abidjan, Bamako, Lome, Cotonou and Accra).
