The AACC was delighted to host Ms Gita Kamath the High Commissioner Designate to South Africa at a recent RoundTable in mid May.
The well attended function enjoyed a format that encouraged a positive interchange of thoughts and ideas.
Prompted initially by the outcome of the most recent election and the confirmation of the go ahead with the Continental Free Trade Agreement it gave rise to a range of issues and opportunities.
However, concern was again express at the problems associated with obtaining visas to Australia.
Ms Kamath drew attention to the opportunities that might arise in 2020 with Rwanda hosting CHOGM and the CWEIC Business Forum.
She also underscored the asset that is the growing Africa diaspora – now over 450,000 in Australia – along with the Australian government programs that provide scholarships, education, research and public policy.
Members attending also enjoyed sharing personal anecdotes, advice and introductions for Ms Kamath in looking to take up her post.
